How is a destination wedding in Spain?
Spain is a very diverse country, so no matter what you are into -beaches, mountains, forests, wineries, medieval towns or elegant cities-, you will likely find it here. Also, there are hundreds of beautiful venues to get married in Spain, so your perfect place to get married in is probably here.
An international wedding ceremony in Spain can be religious -frequently Catholic- or a civil one. If you are planning on a civil one, you are probably thinking about getting married outdoors, given how sunny Spain is. Most wedding venues offer beautiful outdoors spaces to arrange a civil ceremony there.
Non-residents in Spain cannot get legally married here unless one of them is a Spanish national, or unless they have been living here for more than two years. They could get married at a Catholic church in a religious ceremony. Most of our international couples get legally married in their country, and they then arrange an unofficial ceremony for their wedding in Spain. These ceremonies are always as emotional and as beautiful as an official one.
We have seen many kinds of international weddings in Spain before, some of them are very intimate, with just their closest friends and family, while some others have brought more than 150 people to see them tie the knot in Spain.
Also, arranging a LGBT wedding in Spain is an awesome idea. Spain is among the most open-minded countries in the world concerning LGBT rights. Spain became the third country in the world to legalize LGBT marriage back in 2005, and these weddings are very frequent. Some tips for your international wedding in Spain
Choose English speaking vendors: many of us wedding vendors are good at English, but we suggest you to make sure all of them are fluent in English since you will want to have continuous communication with them. This is specially important for all those vendors interacting with you and your guests during your wedding day, as us photographers.
If possible, visit Spain and your wedding venue months before the wedding: it is very important to check where you are getting married before the wedding day. Also, this way you will be able to taste the menus and it is a great advantage regarding the planning of your wedding day.
Spain is mostly sunny, but check the weather when choosing your wedding date: the inner-south of Spain can be too hot in summer, and the north of Spain can be gray and rainy in winter. Choose accordingly.
